Planning a Wedding in Cancun & Riviera Maya? Your Questions Answered

How do we handle resort photography fees or permits in the Riviera Maya and Cancun?

Most all-inclusive resorts in Cancun (such as Moon Palace, Hyatt Ziva, or Excellence) charge an 'Outside Vendor Fee' if you hire a photographer not affiliated with the hotel. These fees typically range from $500 to $1,000 USD. To help my couples, I offer guidance on how to navigate these policies—sometimes booking a room for one night can be more cost-effective than paying the day-pass fee. I’ll help you find the most budget-friendly way to ensure you get the artistic quality you deserve

What is the best time of day for a beach ceremony in Cancun and the Riviera Maya?

To avoid the harsh midday sun and high temperatures, I always recommend scheduling your ceremony about 1.5 to 2 hours before sunset. This provides that soft, 'Golden Hour' glow that makes destination wedding photos look magical. If your venue is on the east side of the Hotel Zone, the light stays beautiful and creamy right until the sun dips behind the lagoon.

Do you offer 'Trash the Dress' or Cenote sessions near Cancun and the Riviera Maya?

Absolutely! One of the biggest perks of a destination wedding in the Mexican Caribbean is the proximity to stunning cenotes. I offer specialized 'Trash the Dress' sessions where we can explore crystal-clear underwater caves or jungle settings. It’s the perfect way to get artistic, editorial-style shots a day or two after your wedding.

How long does it take to receive our wedding gallery?

I know how excited you are to share your memories! You will receive a 'Sneak Peek' gallery within 48-72 hours of your wedding. The full, high-resolution edited gallery is typically delivered via a private online link within 6 to 8 weeks, making it easy to download and share with your friends and family back home in the States.

Is it better to book a Riviera Maya local photographer or bring one from the USA?

Booking a local Cancun wedding photographer is highly recommended for two reasons: expertise and savings. Local pros understand the unique tropical lighting and humidity of the Mexican Caribbean. Plus, you avoid expensive travel fees and 'outside vendor fees' that most resorts (like Moon Palace or Hyatt Ziva) charge when you bring a photographer from abroad

How much does a destination wedding photographer in Cancun or Riviera Maya cost?

On average, professional wedding photography in Cancun typically ranges as follow .

4 hours from $800-$1500 USD,

6 hours $1,200-$2,200USD,

8 hours from $1,800-$3,500 USD,

10-12 hours $3,500-$6,000+ USD

Prices vary depending on the number of photographers, and if you include extras like Cenote Trash the Dress sessions, albums or if you want a wedding video. I

nvesting in a local expert ensures you get high-end quality without the international logistics stress

How do we handle the heat and humidity of Cancun for our photo session?

We plan your session during the coolest parts of the day (sunrise or sunset). We also recommend 'breathable' fabrics for your wedding attire. As your photographer, we use specialized techniques to ensure your gallery looks fresh and elegant, despite the tropical climate of Cancun in the Mexican Caribbean

What happens if it rains in Cancun and the Riviera Maya on our wedding day?

Rain in the Mexican Caribbean is usually tropical and passes quickly. As an experienced Cancun wedding photographer, I always have a 'Plan B' and stay flexible with the timeline. We can often wait out a quick shower to get those stunning post-rain sky colors, or use the resort’s beautiful indoor architecture for unique, editorial-style portraits.

Is it less expensive to hire a local photographer?

Yes, Stay with a local photographer! They know the venues and locations just locals know and a lot more cost effective.
